You are given a glimpse into a world which existed long before you were born, or even long before your grand parents were born. Black and white pictures are necessarily linked to a time where colour did not exist. However, colour photography did exist more than 100 years ago. According to Wikipedia (oh, the feeling of citing Wikipedia - soo wrong, but yet so good), colour photography was attempted as early as the beginning of the 1840s, but never really made a great success due to its fading colours of fake colouring methods. However, despite the existence of old colour photographs, I have never really seen any before very recently; the extraordinarily beautiful colours of <a href="http://www.albertkahn.co.uk/about.html">Albert Kahn</a>'s photographs are faded and subtle - making you stop and wonder, dreamily about how the world used to be. Having seen only black and white pictures from the old days, I find myself slightly puzzled by the sudden appearance of colour. It is refreshing and wonderful, and a bit mysterious. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Albert Kahn was not himself the photographer, though. He was initiating and commissioning photographers to document the world through colour photographies in 1909 and onwards. The actual photographers The result is an array of pictures from all over the world - giving us all a glimpse into a past long forgotten. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The Albert Kahn <a href="http://www.albertkahn.co.uk/museum.html">museum</a> is in Paris, and the BBC has currently published a <a href="http://www.albertkahn.co.uk/book.html">book</a> where you can find some of his pictures. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I will definitely go and have a look at the museum when in Paris, and might even buy the book. I can imagine it is the absolute best pass time on a rainy day where all you want to do is stay inside and drink lots of herbal tea.. </div>

I had two relaxed weeks filled with family and friends. I celebrated NY in Oslo - dinner with some friends. It as relaxed and fun. With good food and champagne. Just as it should be. Next year, however, I am planning on going somewhere else with a group of friends. We went to Tallinn last NY and it was such a great experience.<br />
<br />
I came back two days ago, and it feels like I never left. Even Paddington station was not as grand as it normally feels upon return to London. Have I told you about the experience I normally get from arriving at Paddington? No?<br />
<br />
Ok. Let me explain <i>The Paddington Station Experience:</i><br />
<br />
Imagine you are from a very large country with only 5 million inhabitants. This means you are not used to see many people in one place, and your train stations will usually never be really sizable. Then imagine that you are leaving that country to move to London. You arrive at the airport, and as you find the tube system somewhat complicated, you take the train to London Paddington. Upon arrival at the station you struggle with getting your heavy suitcase out onto the platform and when you finally look up you see Paddington. Its grandeur takes your breath away, and you are inevitably reminded of how small you are and how big the world is. It is a good feeling. A little daunting, but nevertheless a good feeling. I strongly recommend the Paddington experience to you too!<br />
<br />

The revision bubble. I have had 8 exams, and only two left before I can enjoy xmas. I am leaving for Norway one day after my last exam - giving me one day to go ice skating at Sommerset and do the random xmas shopping. Yes. Looking forward. A lot. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When you are in the bubble, very little fun is happening. However, when you do go out and meet friends, go to the shop or go for a walk you seem to appreciate it even more. I am a strong believer in balance, and try to balance my study hours with healthy meals, walks and a bit of social life. Although, studying, of course, is the main thing. It fills most of my bubble, most of my days, and most of my life at the moment. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
However, speaking of balance. Yesterday I made these mean chocolate muffins. They are made without sugar and white flour, so are not as bad for your blood sugar level as normal muffins. I made them with eggs, a tad of the skin of an organic orange, 90% dark chocolate, coco butter, coconut butter, walnuts, hazel nuts, almond flour, agave sirup and some other secret ingredients. I tried the first fresh out-of-the-oven, and it was a super lush experience. The middle was sort of soft, and the chocolate was all melted. Yum. Really. Really. Good. Then I had one or two throughout the day, and then a couple more today. Keeping revision energy levels high :p However, I put the last two in the freezer as I want to save them for my last exam day. I am having two exams in one day (yet again) and it would be great to have a muffin to look forward to in the one hour break between the exams. </div>

I have started my running routine again. Hooray! 5k yesterday. I am using nike plus - and it is a really good way to keep track of your runs. It tells you everything you need to know and also has nice graphs which tells you how fast you run so you can compare to previous runs, but also see where you normally dip in speed. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Tomorrow I have planned for a 3k run. I am going to keep it very light and easy until my exams are over.. I need my energy for my revision time and my exams. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I went to see Tim Walker's photo exhibition at Sommerset House today. As a nice break between reading. It was a very interesting exhibit. Tim is one of today's most famous fashion photographers, and his pictures are balancing between fairy tale beautiful and scary-movie disruption. I had hoped, however, to be even more swooned than I was. I don't know, but I had very high expectations, and somehow they weren't really met. I think the exhibition could have been halved without loosing out too much, leaving more space for the really good pieces. That said, it is absolutely worth your time. If you are in London; go, go, go. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Also - Sommerset House has an ice rink, and is very beautiful in itself. I am planning on going skating with some friends when I am finished with my exams. So that is another thing you could do if you are going to London during winter.. </div>

Nature is close to my heart and has always been one of my passions. I have always wanted to take part in making the world a greener place. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When I was young and had little power to actually do anything about the 'grown ups world', I did the few things that I thought would help. My childhood friends and I raised money by selling waffels, cakes and what not to the neighbours to raise money for Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Red Cross and so on. I can also remember endless of times where we picked garbage from the streets around where I lived, and the secret promises we made that we would never ever in the world buy a car. For this promise we actually made a 'cliss hands' promise - which is basically what it sounds like; spitting in ones hand and then shake it afterwords. It is the slightly lesser dangerous promise than the blood promise. Somehow I feel that I still must honour this promise, and I have not yet bought a car. If I buy one it will definitely be one that is really (!) green. One doesn't really know the consequences of breaching a cliss hands promise. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Later in life I pursued my passion by studying international environmental law, and now I am one of those lucky few who are actually working 100% green in renewable energy law. Although I have come across a disgruntled property owner or two in practice who are not too content about the prospect of getting a wind mill park next to their peaceful swamp, I feel that the work I do is generally decent. It is a great feeling. </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Although it is a great feeling working green - in today's world - with the imminent and horrific threat of global warming, ocean acidification, depletion of wild life and so on and so on - it is not enough. Awareness and action are invaluable. However, despite all my knowledge and despite all my efforts I find myself knowing too little and forgetting too much. Sometimes on the brink of giving up. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yes. I have been buying organic for the past few years. But what about the organic food that has been flown in by plane or tanked in by ships. Is it better to go local? </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yes. I have been buying local when the opportunity arises. Especially in England, where this is affordable. However, in Norway, local food is insanely expensive and has put me off.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yes. I have been boycotting H&M since the documentary from Sweden came about. I have been happy with the thought that Zara was given a higher score for giving its workers a fairer salary. However, in Greenpeace's latest report it reveals that Zara has an unacceptable level of toxins in its clothes - potentially cancerous. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yes. I have been buying shampoo and conditioner from the Body Shop and soap from Lush as that have not been tested on animals. However, the shampoo made my very hair dry and I am longing for my Kerestase products. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yes. I have been recycling. Although all the recycled material is not separated and weirdly goes into one container. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yes. I was a vegetarian for a couple of years. But I loved fish and meat too much to give it up. Is this an unacceptable selfish position to take in today's society although I make sure I buy free range and organic, and I never eat red meat?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And then. Things that are simply NO. Flights to see my loved ones more times than absolutely necessary. My long, hot showers. I know. They are the worst. Not environmentally friendly at all. But oh-so-good. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Enough said. I have decided that my actions should be louder and clearer. It is not enough to speak about change. And it is not a good enough reason to say I forget or am confused. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My childhood self knew instinctively that no matter how small you are or how little your effort is, it is valuable. So I will continue to strive to be a better person for the environment. No matter how confusing and saddening it is that I cannot be simply good, or purely green. I just got to do my best. </div>
<div>

It is Movember. I realised this fairly soon into November as my Facebook account was bombarded with pictures of my male friends and their mustache. As I currently don't have a boyfriend, I am not suffering under this good cause except for the random shock of seeing all my childhood male friends with a varying degree of Mo under their nose.<br />
<br />
That said, I take this as a golden opportunity to introduce to you my current favourite cartoon, <a href="http://tegnehanne.no/2012/05/29/livsvisdom-til-min-bror-asle/">Tegnhanne</a>. She has not made a story on the phenomenon Movember, but she has made a story about advice she would give her little brother upon becoming an adult. I thought I would share with you the accompanying picture to her advice: "you should not always grow a mustache even though you can!" <br />

Tomorrow I hope to do my Wills & Administration of Estate exam and finish off and hand in my practical legal research exam. My exam on Friday went really well, but I have my fingers crossed in any event. You never know..<br />
<br />
The coming weekend will be a full on revision weekend, as last weekend was not as studious as I had hoped. I celebrated my birthday on Saturday (it was such a great night), and on Sunday I went for a 10k run in Battersea (which is really autumn-y and picturesque). Thus, most of the weekend went by without any proper studying.<br />
<br />
I can't believe it is just a month till Christmas and holiday. I think I will leave the xmas shopping till after my exams.<br />

OMG. Time flies. I have my second exam this Friday, and then I have two more exams the coming week before I have an exam marathon with six exams before xmas. Sometimes I wish I had a time turner.. It is not easy being a geek. Especially if you are a perfectionist. And want to keep a balance in your life. I have not been for a run for three weeks. Partly because of the weather, partly because I have been feeling a little out of sorts, and partly because I simply do not have time. Now, however, with a back that aces (a lot) and forces me to curl into the corner of the sofa reading law, I realise that health must come first. If not, I will not be able to be the geek I aim to be..<br />
<br />
So tomorrow morning I will go for a run. I can imagine Battersea Park being really pretty dressed in the colours of the fall.<br />

I forgot to post some pictures of my tea collection.. I have now tried all of them, and my favourite is Rooibush and Vanilla although the Camomile and Lavender is exquisite as well. It really is tea time. Autumn has arrived, and I have not seen the sun in two weeks. It has been raining and foggy, and I have managed to get a little cold. Luckily (or hard-workingly), I have been able to keep on top of my reading nevertheless, but it has kept me from my running routine and I am getting a bit annoyed with my constant coughing and sniffing. Fingers crossed it is soon over.<br />

What is the one thing you must do when in London? Go to a proper Parisian party. Mais oui.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Last night (Saturday) was a blast. It was oh-so-French and oh-so-cool in the way only Parisians know. I was originally just going to pop by with my friend, Hodo, and some of her friends, after having met for a glass of Chablis at a local pub. However, I ended up staying till the wee hours, and left only when the hosts turned on the lights (as in the Parisian way of politely saying - we had fun - now fuck off). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The flat was located just behind Marble Arch and was really big, filled with Louis the XIV chairs and mirrors, with black and white pictures on the walls, and a wide screen with Stanley Kubrick films and Film Noir films running silently in the background. Of course, the whole flat was filled with lit candles, and in the ladies' there were hotel-style-handkerchieves rolled with silk ribbons neatly in a basket. Of course, there were French food - although I did not eat any as I arrived from a bar and had had my load of French fries (not sure the French would have approved. Tsk tsk). And there were French people, Italian people, and the random Norwegian. All dancing, talking, smoking, randomly chatting up or intensely conversing. It is hard to pinpoint exactly what it was that made it so great. It certainly had the touch of "je ne sais quoi". Already looking forward till my next Paris event.<br />
<br />
Today, I have been reading Business law and Criminal procedure law and done the random grocery shopping. I haven't managed to go for a run since Monday last week as the weather has been really bad those times I had a run planned. This week I will just have to be a bit more flexible and go for a run when the sky is clear/it's not raining. </div>
<div>
<div>

Today, finally, was my parcel with nuts, seeds, cocoa, vanilla pods, coconut milk and lots of other yummyness delivered at the door. Door delivery of food is such a lux feeling, and I really wish you had that in Norway too. Really something of a business idea! Anyways, after having had goats cheese and tomatoes for breakfast I got really hungry and decided to make some chia bread rolls after a recipe I have found <a href="http://siljesreise.com/chiarundstykker/">here</a>. I made a double recipe, so 6 big rolls are now in the owen and I cannot wait to taste them. I changed the recipe a bit as I didn't have oatmeal, but I used almond flour instead, so fingers crossed.<br />
<br />
I also bought some really nice teas yesterday, and I will try them out with the rolls for late lunch. I am soon finished with PCR, and have one session in Business law to prepare before I can take the day off. Fingers crossed I will be finished so I can go for a run before dinner/sunset.<br />
<br />
<strike>Pictures will follow shortly :)</strike> Picture posted.. Have a great Saturday!<br />

Good morning :) <div>

<div>
Do you sometimes wake up with a feeling that you can do anything? It is the best feeling in the world. Especially after a couple of days where you have woken up and just wanted to go back to sleep.. </div>

Today is such a day, and I have my fingers crossed I will be able to finish off my PCR workbook, go to my criminal procedural law session, and have time for a run. </div>

Autumn has clearly arrived here in London. I haven't been able to take any pics yet, so I am sharing with you a photo from my favourite fashion blogger <a href="http://www.bryanboy.com/">Bryanboy</a>. I love it because of its fragility and beauty. Don't you agree?</div>

Haha. I just had to share with you my newest use of my glittery hair clips. Perhaps the final proof that I am a proper geek/student. I seriously need to buy some proper clips soon, though, but in the mean time, this is a great way of keeping my system :)<br />
<br />
Today is all about Professional Legal Conduct, btw. Not the most exciting, but very important if you want to keep your legal job :p<br />
<br />
I am also waiting for my online shopping of nuts, seeds, cocoa and oils. I am contemplating making muesli and chocolate sometime soon. And carrot cake - if I can get my mum or my sister to send the recipe to me.. Craving for carrot cake nowadays. Not just any carrot cake, but the world's best carrot cake. Seriously.<br />

Getting up today was painful. Somehow I did not manage to go to sleep last night until quite late, and ended up having a rapture of artsiness in the middle of the night. Who would not find their window and water glass in the dark fascinating? Or even beautiful - in a dark and mysterious way?<br />
<br />
After my 9am Business Law class today I went home, made some pancakes while listening to Badura-Scoda and Demus playing <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dp8W7pSTBmw&list=PL383A6632FF957179">Schubert</a>. Breathtakingly beautiful. The two old, pianists are playing with such feeling it touches my heart.. Magical. I just had to share it :)<br />
<br />
Now, it is time to continue with my property reading for Thursday's class - while listening to the two magicians. Enjoy your Tuesday!</div>

This weekend has passed by so quickly. I have been super focused on studying - finishing off preparing for 5 sessions coming week. I had to turn down a very tempting offer of going for a glass of wine Saturday, but I do not regret it at all as I feel very much prepared to do what is next on my list; to finish the Wills and Administration of Estates workbook and reading (which apparently is a lot) and finish the Professional Conduct and Regulation Workbook by next weekend. I might not be able to do it, but at least I can try..<br />
<br />
I have also managed to go for two runs in Battersea Park. One on Friday after class, and one today (Sunday). My Friday run was 9km and my Sunday run was 7,5km. I am so glad I bought a new wind proof running jacket and head band as it was quite cold under the heavy crowned trees in the park. However, running with the sun on my face along the Thames made me realise it is not yet proper autumn. The sun was warm, and I am sure I got a real vitamin D boost. Me love.<br />
<br />
What else is there to update? Not much. I have my advocacy mock exam tomorrow. Fingers crossed for that. I will act for the claimant in a case where the defendant has not paid the purchase price for delivery of silk fabric. The defendant has applied to court for an extension of time for submitting its defence. I am resisting the application on behalf of the claimant.It is all good fun, but nerve wracking. I am having the actual exam in two weeks time.<br />
<br />
For a Sunday smile I am sharing a pic I find hilarious:<br />

Sometimes I can be a bit reckless when it comes to spending. Normally, I only buy things I need, or do things I have been thinking of for a while, but when I do it all in one go it feels like my bank account suffers more... Today, I went and had a hair cut at Number 10. And yes. As the name suggests, this is not cheap. It is my closest hair dresser, and I did not ask about the price (stupidly enough) as I was going to just have a trim. 30 minutes and 10 cm later, I was confronted with having to pay almost 100 pounds. I tried not to look bothered, and paid by card. Swoosh. I guess that is the down side living in Chelsea.. Then, as if I hadn't already spent enough, I went shopping for running gear. New trainers from Asics, Skins (running trousers) and Gore wind proof jacket. It was all so expensive I was given socks for free... Swoosh. Then I thought I would better finish off all the other shopping I had planned, and went and bought vitamins, shampoo, conditioner and other "necessary stuff". Swoosh. Swoosh. Swoosh.<br />

Today is grey and chill, with autumn leaves on the ground. I slept in today - and woke up at 10.30am. Eeeks. I know. Very late. It is something I rarely do, but I have been feeling tired and out of sorts lately, so I figured I needed to catch up with some sleep. And that was indeed a good idea. I have been very effective today, and the day is not yet over. I have been doing a lot of Business Law, and I just got back from a run in Battersea Park - two laps - and my longest run to date. And I felt fine the whole way. Now I am going shopping at Sainsbury's. I am in desperate need for some food as my fridge has been suffering from my studiousness lately, and all that is left is ryevita, butter, French mustard and quinoa.<br />
<br />
Also - in a moment of boredom the other day I was surfing the Net, and I found the most amazing trousers from Cameo.. Dark blue with black details. Me loves! I do not think it is possible to send it to London, but I might as well send it to my parents house in Norway for collection when I get back at xmas.. I can imagine wearing them with some black pumps and a lush wool sweater. What do you think?<br />

This weekend has just passed by so quickly.. I am finally finished with Solicitors Accounts - both the work book and the hand in exercise. It took ages, as it is almost hundred pages, but I quite enjoyed it. I used to love maths at school, but doing law you never really get to calculate anything (except for damages in certain cases). So I think my brain appreciates a bit of numbers and calculations.. Tonight is all about civil litigation.<br />
<br />
Yesterday, I went for a late run (after spending the whole day with Solicitors Accounts), but I was not feeling it, and my leg started acting up. So I ended up having to walk a bit, and only did one lap. Thus, it was my slowest 'run' to date, and I was home way after sun set. The bridges over Thames are so beautiful lit up - I will have to show you some time.<br />
<br />
Today has also been a Solicitors Accounts day, but I had a break where I cleaned the flat. It feels so nice to be rid off the dust and not see the random 'dust rabbit' (No: "hybelkanin") :)<br />
<br />
Also - Pegs and I went out last night for a glass of wine and ended up cycling around in Chelsea. I cannot describe the feeling of freedom you get from cycling in London after dark. It is just great. We ended up at our local pub/bar - The Orange - which is really nice.<br />

<br />
Ok. "Hold på hatten" as we say in Norway.. I have found the most exciting tea party experience to date. I have not yet tried it myself, but it is definitely on my list of things to do before I leave London.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Suw19OYiRPI/UHBQyqhXIQI/AAAAAAAAAKA/8j7YRjiRZjU/s1600/MHTP.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="361" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Suw19OYiRPI/UHBQyqhXIQI/AAAAAAAAAKA/8j7YRjiRZjU/s400/MHTP.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The Sanderson's, which is located at 50 Berners Street, has something they call "Mad Hatters Tea". As you can see from the description under, this is a fanciful take on Alice in Wonderland's tea experience. What is not to love? Definitely a must for a London visit, no?<br />
<br />
<i>The menu includes ´Eat Me’ Queen of Hearts contains a strawberry and cream mousse and ‘Drink Me’, an enticing looking bottle containing a wonderful potion of Passion fruit Jelly, Coconut Panna cotta and Exotic Foam, this bizarre concoction will send taste buds hatter crazy with each sip delivering a totally different and contrasting taste experience as you drink through the layers with a straw. Guests will be grinning like Cheshire Cats after blueberry lollipops turn their tongues from hot to cold and hazelnut praline ice cream lollipops explode with a single bite, and will be further indulged with a chocolate and coffee layered sponge cake and a chocolate rabbit’s clock that melts in ones mouth.</i><br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<i>Finger sandwiches are served in a rainbow of colours, including ham and English mustard on yellow saffron bread and smoked salmon with cream cheese on green spinach bread. Traditional scones with clotted cream and jam will bring guests back to the real world during their fairytale tea.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I never managed to go for a run yesterday as my Business Accounts took all day and most of the night, so I ended up going for a run this morning instead. It was crisp and cold, and with a stunning sun rise. Walking across Chelsea bridge with the sun reflecting in the Thames is such a luxurious feeling. And, I must admit, seeing all the workers in their suits run to work makes me appreciate this even more. I ended up doing two laps around Battersea Park - almost 8km. Now it is all about unregistered land for my practical legal property class tomorrow. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
P.s the picture is not taken this morning - it is the sunset from the day I went on a photo-exhibition to the park after my exam and arrived after sun set. But I want to share it with you as you can get an idea of how my morning started.. </div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Not motivated today. The sun is shining outside, and I am sitting inside reading about business accounts.. Perhaps I should go for a run after all. It has been raining for the last couple of weeks, and it might be good to get some sun on my face. Also - Battersea Park is so beautiful in the sun.<br />
<br />
I think I will finish my business accounts and then go for a run before I start my solicitors accounts. I'll let you know how many rounds in Battersea I'll take. One or two. I have my fingers crossed for two today :)<br />
<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">So, I went to Battersea park today after my Interviewing and Advising exam - wanted to share with you the amazingness of this place. Brought my camera, but ended up missing the sunset and having to take pictures in the dark. Soo.. Not so much Battersa, but ended up being a bit more creative.. Love how the blurriness makes it more dreamy. Took some sharper ones too, but this is by far my favourite.</span></div>
